End Child Marriage!

​Over this next decade, another 150 million girls will become child brides (www.icrw.org).
The average age for a child bride is fifteen, but many as young as eight, seven, or even younger are forced into marriage. Often with men old enough to be their grandfathers.

 Many do not think that child marriage happens in the United States, but it does. Thousands of children as young as 12 have been recently legally married in the USA. Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Minnesota are the only states to outlaw child marriage without exception. ​

That means 46 more states still need to change legislation.
 ​It can be changed with the advocacy of people like us.

CHS senior draws statewide attention to child marriage

Idaho has highest rate in the nation of wedded minors It's no longer the Wild West. Idaho isn't a foreign country with an uncaring government. So why is child marriage still an issue in this state? "As someone who could possibly be married right now, this directly affects me," said 17-year-old Gracie Messier of Coeur d'Alene.
